DECAP CHRONICLES: circa 100,000 AD: ARK ROYAL

A daily dose of intense UV radiation impinges the Valley of The Shadows. Howling incessant winds stir acid rains into a primal mix of suffocating breaths, with precision time limits to death. The level of daily contingencies demands daily life and death decisions. Survival decisions that extend life for two centuries are compromised for one. Intelligence design is lost in the fray, as practicality rules the day.

The Ark Royal community has survived the last 93,000 years through their best use of intelligence, wit and prayers. However, the unbroken link of decisions yielded a checkmate to an end game extinction event by 100,000 AD. Energy resources constrained the power intensive conjure world and the ability to conjure alternative escape realms. Final contingences are made for conscious transference to reality at end time.

"Somewhere along the path ninety plus thousands years ago, our fate was sealed." Robert Laws, lead Decap futurist of the Ark Royal community, took a sip of his virtual coffee in the Ark Royal realm of 93,000 AD. The visual movement of cup to the avater mouth reproduced the finest sensation of an extinct Brazillian Rain Forest brew, supplemented by the Decap Life Support System influx of an ATP enhanced glucose pumping concotion into Robert's blood brain barrier. "Projections are seven thousands years to extinction on current recycling life support and total deterioation of self sustenance. Reverse Evolution projections showed start of irreversible process begun ninety thousand years ago in 3,000 AD without Decap reconnaissance intervention." Robert paused, the Decap communications reproduced a sigh in his breath, followed by a ubiquitous sense of resignation to his audience. Openly broadcasting his inner feelings was out of form for a lead researcher, but facing such a dire situation, Robert felt compelled to add a touch of humanity to the foreboding end of manknind.

"The underlying history of events that sealed our fate in 3,000 AD was in the nine hundred-year lead-up," Decap Evelyn Afong, Ark Royal community acting Secretary of Commerce of Pacific Rim Conglomerates responded. "We have pigeon-holed ourselves into non-existence because of acceptance of these fundamental flaws over the last ninety thousand years. Unfortunately, reality is now in 3,000 AD and our simulation knowledge requires changing events prior to 3,000 AD to avert end game. Maybe another Decap Reconnaissance team has returned and provided an althernative path."
